Blackboard Wall

We finally got around to painting a blackboard onto one of the dining room walls. As you can see, it's been a huge hit with the kids.

This wall art depicts two trees with heart-shaped apples, a sun wearing sunglasses, birds, giant moles in their mole tunnels, flowers and a squirrel getting bonked in the head with one of the heart-shaped apples.

ps i love the wide border you gave the wall. i think that's what's making it look really great.

That looks so fantastic!

How do they reach up so high?

And I love your house, too, every pic is gorgeous! Along with every pic of your kids. Smiling

You possibly have the coolest house ever. What is that under the trees? Roots? Gophers? Cute!

They use a little step stool that you can see in the background.

I believe those are giant mole tunnels. Laughing out loud

Thanks everybody!

Looks awesome! I'm in love with your house - and your red mixer (I have boring white). Will you update on how the chalkboard paint holds up in a few months?

Love love love your house! It is so gorgeous!
I have a chalkboard door and in the winter it was a HUGE hit in our house. We have had it for about a year and highly recommend dedicating a wall or door like we did. At Home Depot - you can get the chalkboard paint in a variety of colors to match with the room decor if you want to be different. Ours is actually green.

My MIL lets Jackson draw on her big windows with marker and crayon and use chalk on her floors. He has brought this practice home to our house...which does not have large windows or chalk-friendly floors. Maybe this chalkboard paint would be a solution.

I just love when I see a chalkboard wall but no one asked or sees where all the chalk goes. It lands right on the floor under it and its SO messy if stepped in and the dust floats around and gets on everything. One of the reason they went with whiteboards at colleges.

It's not so bad. Luckily for me, my four year old loves to vaccuum. Smiling Also the kids have been using a lot less paper now that they have the chalkboard.

Hi - I totally love this wall and am going to steal this idea. Did you use magnetic primer/paint or just chalkboard. I want to use both, but I'm having trouble finding the paints. Which brands did you use and where did you buy it? Thanks so much! Joy

We used a Finnish brand of chalkboard paint from Starkki. Sorry, I don't remember the name of it.
