Smörgåsbord a little bit of everything

Just browsing

So today we went out to visit the sofa we've been considering. Before entering the store we were pretty confident about the Aqua color. Once we saw it in person, and after our eyes had recovered from the retina burning brightness, we changed our minds. Sadly, that was the only turquoiseish fabric option BoConcept offered. Then we turned our eyes towards leather, which we originally had in mind. Again, the color options were limited: white, black or dark brown. Black is too masculine and white is too, I dunno, JLo? So that leaves us with brown. Pookie said "It's very 70's". The sales lady said "70's is very good". So we're still thinking. Below is the white leather Milos sofa with the brown leather thrown over it. What do you think?

They also had this rug that I love. To me it looks like a bunch of little pompoms.

Overall the store had a really good selection of furniture. I liked the more elegant furniture but it wasn't exactly family friendly.

This massive sofa was really comfortable but I already know the kids would be building forts out of the very expensive cushions in no time flat.

I kinda like this sideboard.

I most definitely like these chairs though. Too bad they each cost more that the L-shaped sofa in leather will.

I'm not sure how practical white would be with kids. Would it stay bright white or would it look dingy after a while? And the fort thing is cute at first but having to fix and fluff the cushions everyday gets old really quick. Our current sofa has loose cushions and they are never where they should be.

Love the white much more than the brown. My only worry is don't you have a cat. Even if its is declawed when they jump on the sofa the rear claws dig in. Would hate the pretty sofa to have holes in it.

Good point. i think we're going to continue to look for something in fabric instead of leather. So expect more posts on our sofa search. :D

Have you considered searching for a vintage sofa in the size/shape you like and then picking a fabric and having it reupholstered?
We bought a 9 ft sofa off of CL (plus 2 chairs)- all from the late 60s for $275. Spent ~300 @ a fabric outlet and then 800 on upholstery labor and foam costs for our sofa. So while not cheap, we got exactly what we wanted (though of course now I am re-thinking the fabric choice DOH!) for a lot less than buying something that anyone else could have. We just got the first of the 2 chairs back, had that re-done in leather. Bought 2 hides off ebay for under $300, then spent $435 on the labor- gorgeous leather chair that would easily be 2k from a store, for under $800. Still deciding on the fabric for the 2nd chair...

Also if you like that rug, check out this one from smartbargains- it's what we bought for our living room.

Yes, I have considered that. Unfortunately, I haven't had any luck finding one online in or around Finland so far. Will keep looking though. I don't want to settle for something I kinda sorta like again. :) Thanks for the link.

So many pretty things. :) I think you should buy the last two chairs (gorgeous!) and the kids can just sit on the floor. :rotfl:
Oh, and the pompom rug is awesome.

I have threatened to make them sit on the floor when we finally do get some new furniture.

I admit I got a sofa and chair reupholstered and they are now covered in cheap ikea fleece blankets to protect them from our daughter and dogs... I take the blankets off for company.
